My latest work series are works on paper mainly black and white. Materials used are charcoal, china marker, water-soluble wax pastel, conte, crayon and colored pencils. During the making of these studies, my motor-control, perception, visual memory and decision-making abilities were challenged. The process was often exploratory and experimental. As a result, it helped me to find a new direction in a formerly unknown territory of possibilities. This body of work became the final artistic expression of my visual thoughts from the moment. Nevertheless, they will continue to serve as inspiration for my next.

“Colors mean a lot to me as a visual artist. I have always had an affinity to the strength contained in classic black and white.  There is a certain calmness when the pair meet. I am drawn to the clear distinction between the two. They are so clearly defined, there is no ambiguity they tell it like it is, so to speak. I also love the fact that they are two extreme opposites, but simultaneously complement each other’s uniqueness to the utmost. While looking at the black, I have a sensation of being pulled into a mysterious void, while instantaneously questioning my own existence. To me, white is eternity, peace and joy, while black is concealment, rebirth and transformation.”
